Oldest Son of Skulener Rebbe in Critical Condition
Doctors at the hospital where he is hospitalized told family members that Rav Yeshaya Yaakov’s condition has deteriorated and his 
liver has ceased operating. The doctors added that at the present time, the situation is so dire that a liver transplant cannot be performed because of the danger it poses to his life.
All are asked to say Tehillim for Rav Yeshaya Yaakov ben Raizel.
Yom Tefilah For Rav Yeshaya Yaakov ben Reizel
Today will be a yom tefilah for the eldest son of the Skulene Rebbe, Rav Yeshaya Yaakov ben Reizel Portugal, Av Beis Din of Meor Hagolah in Montreal. The yom tefilah, erev Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan will be taking place in many areas including at the tzion of the Skulene Rebbe ZT”L in Monsey at 5:00 pm, and throughout the city of Montreal.
The rav was taken into the Mount Royal hospital on Yom Kippur and his condition is deteriorating. The Skulener Rebbe recently paid a visit to his son in the hospital.
The rav was transferred to a Manhattan area hospital yesterday.

Skulener Rebbe’s Eldest Son Undergoes Liver Transplant

Rav Yeshaya Yaakov Portugal, the eldest son of the Skulener Rebbe, Rav Yisroel Avrohom Portugal,[בילד – נישט אפגעהיט] underwent an eight-hour liver transplant over the weekend. On Friday, Rav Yeshaya Yaakov, who has been feeling unwell for months, received a call that a liver was available for him, and he was quickly rushed to Columbia Medical Center in Manhattan for the surgery.
Rav Yeshaya Yaakov heads the Meor Hagolah kehillah in Montreal.
According to sources, the physicians caring for Rav Yeshaya Yaakov has said that it is still too early to determine how successful the surgery was. It may take some additional days to examine how his body is reacting to his new liver before issuing a statement regarding the prognosis.
All are asked to say Tehillim for Rav Yeshaya Yaakov ben Raizel.

Feb 14 2012 8:45 amB’Simcha Rabba after weeks that Klal Yisroel all over the world were Mispallel for the refuah of Rav Yeshaya Yaakov Portugal, the doctors were able to discharge the rav last night from Columbia Hospital in New York. The rav has been hospitalized almost the entire time since contracting an infection right before Sukkos.
The rav arrived last night at an apartment in Boro Park where he will be staying while he continues his recovery. It is still very important to be marbeh b’tefilah for the full and fast refuah of Rav Yeshaya Yaakov Ben Reizel.

הרה"צ רבי ישעיה יעקב פורטוגל שליט"א רב דקהל מאור הגולה במונטריאל בנו בכורו של כ"ק אדמו"ר מסקולען שליט"א ששהה בחודשים האחרונים בבתי חולים ברחבי ארה"ב, לאור מחלה קשה אשר פקדה אותו ועבר השתלת כבד, בחסדי שמים לאחר תפילות רבות שנישאו לרפואתו השתחרר אמש מבית החולים והגיע להתפלל שחרית בבית המדרש הסמוך 'בית חיים יהושע'.
אחר התפילה עברו קהל המתפללים הנרגש לברכו בברכת ברוך רופא חולים, ובראשם האדמו"ר מבית חיים יהושע ששוחח עמו דקות ארוכות, ואיחל לו רפואה שלימה שיחזור להנהיג את קהל עדתו בבריות גופא ונהורא מעליא לאורך ימים ושנים טובות ובריאות.
