Federation opens mailbox to aid Yemenite Jewish refugees
EMERGENCY RELIEF FOR YEMENITE JEWS
The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey, in conjunction with its parent organization United Jewish Communities (UJC), is accepting donations to assist with emergency relief efforts to aid 112 Yemenite Jews who will be resettled as refugees in Monsey, NY within the next several weeks.
UJC will serve as the conduit for distributing all funds collected by local federations to assist with the various costs of this resettlement effort. Contributions will be used for basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and medical expenses, as well as case management and employment services.
The total cost of this resettlement is estimated to be $2-million. The federal government will pay certain costs, with additional funds being sought from Jewish communities across the country. The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey has committed a minimum of $2,000 to these efforts.
Donate online at www.jewishsouthjersey.org or by check, made payable to "Jewish Federation of SNJ" and mark "Yemenite Relief Effort" in the check's memo field. Checks should be sent to the Jewish Federation of Southern NJ, 1301 Springdale Rd., Suite 200, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003.
