*Israel's rescue services on Monday evening said 15 people had been hurt in an attack at a busy Jerusalem intersection. One of the victims sustained serious injuries, while the rest were lightly to moderately hurt. The rescue service said a driver drove his car into a group of people at the intersection. The driver was shot and killed. Channel 10 News reported that the perpetrator was driving a black BMW. Police said armed civilians killed the driver. He was not immediately identified, but the wording of the police statement indicated it was believed he was a Palestinian. The intersection is situated near Jerusalem's Old City. In recent months, Palestinians who lived in Jerusalem carried out two attacks within three weeks of each other using heavy construction machinery, killing three people and wounding many others. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1023443.html |

A terrorist driving a black BMW ran his car into a crowd of pedestrians at a busy intersection in central Jerusalem near the Old City on Monday evening.
The terrorist was reportedly gunned down by an IDF officer.
At least 16 people were confirmed wounded in Zahal Square, one in serious condition, two in moderate condition and the rest sustained light injures. Magen David Adom paramedics evacuated those wounded to the Hadassah Ein Karem and Shaare Zedek hospitals for treatment.
Rescue services rushed to the scene, and police have blocked traffic in the area. Sappers examined the terrorist's body, fearing he may have been wearing a bomb belt.
The terrorist reportedly began his rampage on Shivtei Yisrael Street. He was shot by armed civilian passersby. Security authorities say they have been able to ascertain the identity of the terrorist, it has not yet been released for publication.
"The terrorist was in a private car, he rammed straight into a group of people touring the area," said first
responded Haim Weingreten, a ZAKA volunteer.
Earlier this summer, Jerusalem was the scene of two similar attacks. In the first attack, three people were murdered after an east Jerusalem terrorist went on a rampage with his bulldozer, targeting passersby in central Jerusalem. More than 30 people sustained wounds in the attack.
Three weeks later, a terrorist who went on a similar rampage was shot to death early into his attack. As a result, he was unable to murder anyone, but 18 people were wounded in the attack. The terrorist who perpetrated the second rampage was also from east Jerusalem.

A man driving a black BMW plowed into a crowd of people at a busy Jerusalem intersection Monday evening, leaving 19 people hurt. All the victims sustained minor to moderate injuries, most of them Israel Defense Forces soldiers on their way to the Western Wall. Jerusalem police commander Ilan Franco said the driver, a resident of Jabel Mukaber in East Jerusalem, was shot and killed by a soldier who was among the crowd. The intersection is situated near Jerusalem's Old City. Soldiers hurt in Jerusalem attack |

Emergency services at the scene of the attack About a dozen soldiers have been wounded in an apparent attack in central Jerusalem, Israeli police say. They say a man drove his car into the group at a busy intersection, before being shot and killed. Police said the driver was a Palestinian and described the incident as a "terror attack". The road junction is close to the boundary between the Jewish and Arab areas of Jerusalem. Two of those injured are in a serious condition. The attacker has been identified in the Israeli press as Qassem al-Mughrabi, a 19-year-old Palestinian resident of the al-Farouk area of East Jerusalem. 'Turned his car' The incident took place just before 2300 (2000 GMT). A black BMW mounted the pavement and hit a group of Israeli soldiers, who were wearing their uniforms. Jerusalem police chief Aharon Franco said that a Palestinian resident of the city was driving the car. "He turned his car towards a group of soldiers who were at an intersection," he said. "The car then hit a wall, and a soldier shot and killed the terrorist." It is the third such incident in recent months in Jerusalem. On two previous occasions, Palestinian construction workers from East Jerusalem have driven diggers into oncoming traffic, killing three Israelis and wounding several others. The attack came only hours after Israel's Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni accepted an invitation from the president to form a new government. The request followed the resignation on Sunday of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who faces several corruption inquiries.
