Traffic stoppages planned on Thruway for blasting

New York State Thruway - Brief traffic stoppages along the Thruway will begin today to allow blasting for a Columbia Gas Transmission Corp. pipeline replacement project, and will continue through Aug. 23.
The traffic stoppages will take place approximately six miles north of Interchange 15A (Sloatsburg, Suffern, Route 17 North, Route 59) in both the northbound and southbound directions.
The first stoppage will take place between 10 a.m. and noon today.
Two stoppages are then scheduled for Mondays through Wednesdays, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with one stop scheduled for Thursdays between 10 a.m. and noon, weather permitting. The stoppages will last a maximum of 10 minutes.
Blasting is expected to conclude by Aug. 23.
Message signs and Highway Advisory Radio 530 AM in the Tappan Zee Bridge corridor and 1610 AM in the Newburgh area will be activated to inform the public of the scheduled stops.
