Rabbi's wife dead after crash
Glen Wild - The wife of a prominent rabbi was killed last night when their car flipped over on Glen Wild Road, police said.
Sara Horowitz, 57, of Brooklyn was pronounced dead at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris.
Her husband, Rabbi Berisch Horowitz, 58, was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla with serious injuries.
The Horowitzes have for years run Camp Spinka in Glen Wild.
The couple were riding in a minivan driven by 21-year-old Moshe Minz of Brooklyn.
They were reportedly returning to the camp about 11 p.m. following a medical appointment for the rabbi when the minivan veered onto the shoulder near the Rock Hill fire house. Police say Minz tried to steer the van back onto the road but overcorrected. The van flipped and Mrs. Horowitz, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the van.
Police said Minz and a woman passenger in the back seat were unhurt.
No tickets were issued.
